Blog 04 Assignment

http://www.laartshow.com/print-fair

The Print Fair is being held at the LA Convention Center in the southern part of downtown Los Angeles. It is one of the longest running print fairs in the United States, which brings together art dealers who are members of the International Fine Print Dealers Association (IFPDA). The IFPDA is an organization of expert dealers dedicated to promote the meaning of printmaking. This technique is a medium of artistic expression and has been used in over 500 years. The Print Fair presents an ideal opportunity to review the works of higher quality and authenticity of many important artists.
The works at the Print Fair are both original or fine prints. An original print is created by an artist to be a work of art in its own right other than a copy of pre-existing drawings/paintings. Visitors can expect to see some engravings, etchings, and lithographs made by artists from Durer and Whistler to Diebenkorn and Ruscha. This makes the Print Fair a bridge gap between historical and traditional, modern, and contemporary art. This event will occur from January 23rd through the 27th in 2013.

Blog 03 Assignment

The Mona Lisa painting, by Italian artist Leonardo da Vinci, is the most spectacular artwork I have ever seen. I love how realistic the details were in each part of the paint drawing. This woman smiling, is pretty much the most memorable detail in worldwide history. Just imagine how anyone besides Leonardo da Vinci can create these kind of details. It's too bad I wasn't able to get a photo picture taken back in the Lourve Museum at least 6 years ago.
But I didn't think that Mona Lisa has a wedding ring which makes her a "virtuous woman and faithful wife" before Leonardo decided to not show the ring in either of her hands. Who would have thought that Mona Lisa is actually married to the famous painter like Leonardo da Vinci!? And it's interesting that the actual name for Mona Lisa is "Lisa del Giocondo," who is a member of the Gherardini family of Florence and Tuscany in Italy. I think Lisa did an amazing job acting as the model for Leonardo. Especially when the colors in this painting are visually beautiful. This is why I consider this my favorite work of Leonardo da Vinci.

The Last Supper painting is very detailed, as well as the amazing colors. It is truly a religious artwork masterpiece by Leonardo da Vinci. Although it seems kind of sad about why it is called the "last supper," since it represents Jesus Christ's final meal prior to his crucifixion. But I cannot say how pleased I am with the amount of hard work Leonardo has done. It's no wonder that I would always pray each time I had breakfast, lunch, and dinner.
That seems kind of awful that since the 1970s, the painting's details used to be completely ruined and deteriorate in a bad way before going through a difficult process of restoration. I hope this is not one of the reasons why the restored details of the Last Supper used to be considered "controversial." But since this painting is now finally fixed in 1999, thanks to Pinin Brambilla Barcilon, I think this is perfect just the way as it is, regardless of what others say about these "so-called improvements." And, wow! That must've taken a REALLY long time to get this painting fixed correctly! If the restoration process didn't happen, then I would have liked the older version better!

Leonardo da Vinci has done it again, as usual! I love the beautiful details this Leda and the Swan painting has all over it! Surprising how the naked human children look like they were hatching from the eggs, as if the swan is could have been their mother instead of Leda. The skies and the lake are the background parts I like in this painting. The way that Leda is drawn, I love how realistic her details look.
Interesting that the names of the four children hatching from Leda's eggs are Helen of Troy, Castor, Clytemnestra, and Pollux. The first two are fathered by the Olympian God of Thunder, Zeus, while the latter are both fathered by Spartan king Tyndareus. But who would've thought that the swan "seducing" Leda is none other than Zeus himself! It's too bad that this painting is said to be "destroyed" since the 1500s. If only we got the chance to see this original copy by Leonardo before it was lost forever.

Blog 02 Assignment

This is my very own 6-panel comic book strip back in summer 2007. It is called "Adam's Fruitful Adventure." It was done by colored pencils after I used a pencil to draw the designs before using a black pen to trace over them to help make the details stand out perfectly. I made this as an art project for my cartooning teacher at IFTA (Institute for the Arts), Chris Klinke. This comic strip has a very funny ending despite the scene transition being a little "abrupt," which satisfied Mr. Klinke and my parents as well.

Thanks to my excellent drawing skills, I was able to make a perfect sketch of 3 cans, 1 rubix cube, and 1 big Honeydukes jellybeans glass jar that my family and I got from the Universal Studios' The Wizarding World of Harry Potter theme park. I made this sketch drawing out of a number of graphite pencils, with some messy details edited for better realism. It was made as a drawing assignment for Prof. Rebecca Freeman's Art 121 class during my 1st semester at NOVA Loudon Campus last year. It took me at least an hour or two to draw these items in all 5 sketches as told by my drawing teacher. Sure was a bit of hard work, but at least I drew them in an amazing way.

This is my collaborative painting done by me and the other two students, Tori and Andrew Smith. It is our very last art project during the final week of Dr. Joan Giampa's art design class in my summer semester. If not for those two siblings, I would have gotten to work on these details at a time by working on the painting of two people walking along the hills back at my house, while Tori & Andrew work on the other two pictures before coming to class. It is amazing how 3 of the paintings were all pieced together like it was puzzle. These pictures all share a major theme of calm and peaceful nature, as well as sharing the same 6 primary colors in the blue-green color family.
